Progess Report #5 - April 23rd - 29th

Hi everyone!

How are you all doing? Sorry that some of you have been sick or life has taken over your time. It is hard to keep a fitness routine up and going for a length of time isn't it? That is one of the things I like about this challenge - it is about the long haul. Each week contributes to the whole - and I hope develops better habits.

I personally struggle with taking time out to work out when we have company, and pretty much all spring we have had relatives here every other weekend. Now that we are on the 4th visit, I am getting better about it.

Update: My son and I ran the 5k last weekend and it was so fantastic. I thought he might hold me back (even though I hestiate to call what I do running), because we hadn't gotten many practice runs in for him. He was awesome, talking to me, challenging me to the next corner, etc. I wouldn't have done it any other way. He stayed with me the whole time (he's 8) and only sprinted away on the straightaway to the finish line. I finished in 42:30 and was very happy with that time. My goal is to get under 40 minutes before the summer. I did it on the treadmill today for the 1st time, so I am getting closer! I can't wait to run with my son again!

So in the comments, tell us about a victory you have had lately, or a new goal you have set so we can cheer you on (and of course, your miles). I can't wait to hear about what you all are accomplishing!

Allie

I brought my total this week up to 48km/29mi. It's been a tough week for exercise because I've managed to hurt my back (in a non-exercise related way). This basically leaves my goal as resting my back for a few days more and then easing back in to my exercise routine.

You know... ever since I signed up for this round of the challenge I keep getting random injuries. I think that this challenge has jinxed me!

Allie, I'm so inspired by your story! I'm not a runner...hat it actually, but I might give it a try after reading about you and your son!
This week I've added 7 miles to make a total of 41 accumulated miles to date.
Thanks so much for the inspiration!!

mileage is 11, but lots of success in other areas, that is not reflected in that number.

Next 2 weeks will be challenging with visitors and travel, but am working on being more consistant.

Congrates on the 5K. That is awesome! I have a total of 29 miles to date. I feel like I did really good. There was about a week and a half that I really struggled with working out, but I worked through it, and almost got 1 mile per day.

Onward to the next month! I start training with a personal trainer on Monday. He is going to kick my butt into shape. I have a boat party that I am going to on May 23rd, so I need to get into shape.

I've slowed down a bit, but still managed 12 miles which takes me to a total of 82 miles. I'm still struggling to work some strength training into my schedule. Hopefully this week will be the week!

I'm so impressed with you and your son. Nicely done! 30 for me this week, bringing my total to 131. This is the best time of year for walking, with gorgeous flowering trees to admire and daylight hours starting early and ending late.

Congratulations on your 5K! I ran my first one a couple of weeks ago and it felt great to run one rather than walk it. I have only started running in the last year. I did the C25K program last year at this time, doing two weeks per level instead of just one. After the summer travels I finally was able to run 2 miles straight and have been building from there to where I now run 4-5 miles two to three times a week. You are through the hard part of learning to run. You will be amazed at how you build from here. I can't wait to hear how your next one goes!

My victory for the week is upping my mileage for my distance ride on my bike from 30 to 35 with the new month this morning. There was a pretty stiff wind and I was tempted to wait for my hubby, who is out of town, to ride it with me, but I did it and it felt great!

I was able to do 40 miles this week bringing my total to 160. I post my stats on my sidebar: http://m3kp.blogspot.com/

Only 2 miles for week ending 4/29, but my victory for the week is 4 pounds lost and an improved attitude.

I look forward to the next update because I have already almost doubled my total miles walked and it's only early Monday.

Hi - sorry I am checking in late - I was on vacation! 15 miles for me - I walked my butt off this time! Maybe it will make up for the pathetic week the week before!

Sorry I am all late getting my progress report to you! I am up to 40 miles now. I have been doing a lot of dancing- taking salsa lessons and going out for Latin nights at a local club. I have just joined the YMCA so I am hoping that will help me step up my game too since they have a pool and I love to swim!
